Why Anti Aging Nutrients
Are An Essential Part Of Every Diet

Anti Aging Nutrients - from an early age, we are told to take vitamins to encourage the proper development of the cells, bones, organs and to strengthen the immune system. Once we reach a certain age, we have different nutritional needs, and many people begin to incorporate different types of anti aging nutrients into their diet starting around age 30 or 40.

As we age, vitamins are still necessary, but sometimes a traditional multi-vitamin isn't enough to really combat the effects of aging. If you've ever strayed from your usual vitamin schedule for a couple of days, you probably noticed a decrease in your energy level. This is because when our bodies have enough nutrients; they operate the way they were intended to operate. Likewise, when we are nutrient starved, our bodies have a harder time functioning.

So What Are Anti Aging Nutrients?

They are the nutrients that assist in promoting good health; water, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

  • Although water may not seem like a nutrient, it is essential to any anti aging regimen. Chances are you've heard the reports about how drinking eight, 8 ounce glasses of water a day is beneficial to your health, but it can be difficult to become motivated to incorporate water into your daily diet.

Since over half the body is made out of water, it needs ample amounts of water to function properly. Water assists in anti aging because it replenishes the cells and organs. Picture a fresh grape, and now picture a raisin. Which would you rather have your skin and internal organ resemble? The answer is obvious; the grape.

Not only does your physical health benefit from proper hydration, but your mental health benefits from it as well. Studies have shown that depression and other mental ailments can be linked to dehydration. Do whatever you need to do to motivate yourself to drink more water because your health depends on it.

  • As we age, not only do we have to find more supplements to replace missing nutrients, but we usually have to make some dietary changes as well. Even if you aren't sure what types of anti aging nutrients you need, you can be assured that you don't need too much fat.

Weight maintenance is important because it lowers your chances of having heart attacks, high cholesterol and heart disease. When it is mealtime, instead of always driving to the nearest fast food restaurant, get into the habit of stocking your kitchen with healthy foods that you can cook.

Cooking is always healthier because you know exactly what is in your meals. Do you have a constant sweet tooth? The next time you're craving sugar, instead of baking a cake or whipping up a batch of cookies, try to reach for a piece of antioxidant fruit instead. A handful of walnuts and some dried fruit also makes a great satisfying snack.

  • If you've been confused concerning the connection between anti aging nutrients rich in antioxidants and "free radicals", then you are not alone. Free radicals are best described as oxygen molecules that are "unstable." These free radicals actually attack the body and speed up the aging process and cause disease. Fruits and Veggies Antioxidants help actually attack and repair damage from free radicals and prevent them from causing permanent damage to the collagen and elasticity in the skin. Antioxidants also help support the nervous system and boost the immune system. Antioxidant rich foods not only help burn fat, but they also prevent diseases, and lower cholesterol.

Foods rich in anti aging antioxidants include: blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, red grapes, green and black tea, yogurt, beans, sprouts, garlic, soy and many more. Even if you are an extremely picky eater, chances are you will be able to find an antioxidant rich food that you love.

With anti aging nutrients, it is important to realize that your overall health affects your entire aging process. If you are constantly ill, your body will be at a disadvantage because it will not be functioning at full capacity.

When you feel tempted to stray from your healthy lifestyle, just remember how much your body needs the nutrients you are consuming. And you don't have to wait until you are in your 40's or 50's to start eating foods to help you fight aging. The sooner you make a habit of eating foods that will benefit you in later in life, the easier it will be to stick with your way of eating when you are older.
