- Calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D are synergistic and work better together, so today's anti aging supplement formulas usually include all three. I would recommend looking for a calcium supplement that includes absorbable calcium such as calcium citrate, in a three to two ratio with magnesium (600 mg of calcium and 400 mg of magnesium).
Supplements should also include at least 200 mg a day in total of vitamin D, although some experts say that this should be higher. The jury is still out.
Bone density matters as you get older – particularly for women. Our bones are the body’s structural frame and without sufficient calcium you risk bone mineral loss, joint pain, poor mobility and diseases like osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.

Fat burns quicker when there is an abundance of Vitamin C in your blood. You can take up to 2000 mg a day with no ill effects, and you absolutely need vitamin C on a daily basis, because it's a water-soluble vitamin that your body excretes and can't store. Vitamin C is also abundant in foods like citrus fruits and many vegetables.
- Vitamin E - This is the second of the "granddaddy" powerhouse antioxidants, in that it also destroys free radicals and boosts immune function. Unlike vitamin C, vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin that can be stored in the body, though, so make sure you limit your intake to about 400 mg a day if you're taking supplements. You can also get vitamin E in your diet by consuming foods like sunflower seeds, olives and olive oil.
Incidentally, you can also apply the vitamin E topically by breaking open a vitamin E capsule and applying it to your skin for its rejuvenating effects. If you do decide to include vitamin E supplements in your regimen, make sure you get the "mixed tocopherols" variety, since you need the full spectrum of tocopherols for best effect.
- Coenzyme Q10 - is another powerhouse antioxidant; with supplementation of coenzyme Q 10, cells can experience up to 95% LESS damage than without, according to some experts. It's very protective of the heart especially, and it also works synergistically with other antioxidants like vitamin E to protect our bodies; it's also essential in the process of transporting fatty acids to the cells so that they can be converted to energy. There is no recommended amount, but most people take from between 30 to 200 mg a day. Take with food for best results.

- DMAE - this is one of the most exciting and relatively new discoveries in the beauty and anti aging supplement world. DMAE, or dimethylaminoethenol, is a precursor to choline and helps with skin health, in that it firms skin and restores elasticity, and can also remove age markers like age spots. More exciting than that, though, taking DMAE in modest amounts also helps boost mood and increase mental alertness and focus especially as you age. Wild Alaskan salmon is also a great source of DMAE. You can take about 200 mg a day, with no ill effects.
- Multivitamin and mineral supplement - there are lots of good multivitamin mineral supplements out there, but taking one that contains essential trace nutrients like manganese is important for continuing good health and vitality; include this as part of your antiaging supplement regimen. A good multivitamin mineral supplement is going to help you make sure you get everything you need -- even those trace nutrients -- so that you don't become deficient in anything and can maintain your energy and vitality.
