An Apple Body Shape Is The Same As A Boxy Body Type

Apple Body Shape - How many times have you heard "if you want to look taller and thinner wear straight lines?" Well, this does not work on someone who has a curvy shape. It only works if your bone structure is straight or apple shape. Proper fit of clothing hinges on dressing yourself in clothing lines that are similar to your shape. The apple body shape has less of a defined waistline where the upper and lower torso are more equal in width and slender legs.

Jackets With Straight Silhouette Lines

Notice the silhouette or outer lines of the illustration. Your challenge will be to look for jackets that have no shape. The design lines are very straight. It is fairly easy to detect these jackets because they are void of any darts, tucks, folds and extra seams. Follow the lines of the illustrations below. Your goal is to have jackets that are roomy through the midriff, thereby creating camouflage.

In addition to looking at lines, your clothes should be chosen in firmer and stiffer fabrics, Denim, gabardine, linen, cottons, etc., will enhance the straight and more tailored lines.

Tops With Straight Silhouette Lines

The important detail to look for in tops is to make sure they have no shape in the waist. Tops should hang straight from the shoulder to the waist. Avoid clingy tops that draw attention to the midriff.

Skirts and Dresses With Straight Silhouette Lines

This figure type doesn't have a lot of choices when it comes to skirts and dresses. The lines have to be straight from the waistband on down. Getting a waistband to fit is the challenge for you. If the waistband fits, make sure the skirt or dress is not too big through the thighs and hips. It should have a tapered fit.

Pants With Straight Silhouette Lines

Pants become the biggest challenge for the straight boxy figure type. The choices in the marketplace favor the curvy types. Jeans are easier to find than dress pants. Pants should have darts instead of pleats. Pleats are folds that give extra fabric where it is not needed. Avoid pants with side pockets.
